2 children sitting on the bed in the family suite

A wonderful stay at Van der Valk Hotel Gent with the whole family

Sometimes as a family, you don’t need much to really get away. A nice hotel room, good food, enough to do for the children, and also some space for relaxation for yourself. Exactly that combination we found during our stay at Van der Valk Gent.

For our trip, we stayed two nights in the hotel. A wonderful stopover where luxury and comfort were central, but most of all the feeling that everything is just well organized. Everything you need can be found under one roof.

Luxury and comfort for the whole family

The family rooms are spacious, comfortable, and completely designed for a relaxing stay. The fine rooms with bunk beds have become one of the reasons why Van der Valk is so popular with us. As soon as the kids see the familiar logo, they already know: “Yay, the beautiful rooms!” 🤍

An extra bonus for us was the toy that was already present in the children's room. So fun for the kids and especially convenient for the parents: you don’t have to lug half a toy closet in your suitcase. 😉

And then that luxury bath… our children thoroughly enjoyed it! 🛁 After a day full of impressions, it was always a treat to take a nice bath. It's those little extras that make a hotel stay with children so much nicer.

The combination of a comfortable room, bunk beds, toys, and that delightful bath made the children feel right at home.

Plenty of relaxation for parents too

What I find so nice about this hotel is that it is not just focused on families. As a parent, you can also relax here.

The hotel has a gym and wellness, allowing you to take a moment for yourself after a busy day with the children. No hassle of having to go somewhere; everything is just within reach.

That makes the stay for me the perfect combination of family fun and relaxation time.

Delicious food without leaving the hotel

You don’t really need to leave the hotel for culinary experiences either. There are two delightful restaurants where you can dine, and for a drink or a small bite, there's the rooftop bar.

Especially with children, I find that ideal. You have everything at hand and can end the day with good food without having to search for a restaurant in the city.

And then the breakfast… it was a treat every morning. 🥐☕️

With the extensive live cooking buffet, you can put together your favorite breakfast. From freshly prepared dishes to tasty rolls and everything you need to start the day well.

Cycling to the center of Ghent

Want to discover Ghent? You don't necessarily have to drive into the city by car. Bicycles are available from the hotel, and in about 15 minutes you can cycle towards the center.

And that is absolutely recommended.

Ghent is such a city where you can enjoy cycling and walking. The beautiful historical buildings, impressive architecture, and cozy streets ensure that you constantly discover something new along the way.

Moreover, with children, it is a fun way to experience the city.

Discover Ghent also from the water

An activity that we definitely recommend is a boat trip through Ghent. From the water, you get a completely different view of the city.

You sail past the most beautiful places while you can relax and enjoy the atmosphere. Especially with children, we found this a nice change while discovering the city.

The perfect balance for a family stay

What made our stay at Van der Valk Gent so enjoyable was the variety.

The children could enjoy the fine room, the toys, the lovely bath, and discovering the city. We could relax in the wellness, enjoy good food, and have a drink at the rooftop bar in between.

Luxury, comfort, relaxation, and enough to experience for the whole family.

Exactly that balance makes Van der Valk Gent a wonderful place for us for a few days away. Whether you want to explore Ghent for a weekend, make a stopover during a road trip, or just want to escape the daily hustle and bustle: here you have everything under one roof.
