Korenlei
The quay and street on the left bank of the Lys is the Korenlei. It is situated between the Grasbridge and the Sint-Michielsbrug. From the 11th century onwards, commercial activities grew along these quays and this became the city's port. All grain was imported into the county of Flanders via Ghent and, together with the Korenmarkt (corn market), the graslei and korenlei became the centre of grain trade in Flanders.
